Petty
Campaign HQ - Spring, TX - March 22, 2008
A term bounced around over the last 20 years or so is
the phrase "disenfranchised voter".
Did you know that in 2006 only 26.8% of registered voters
in House District 150 voted to elect Debbie Riddle to
'serve' in the Texas House? Couple this with the fact
that only 11.3% voted for her Democratic opponent means
that 61.9% of registered voters in the district decided
that their vote was not worth it, or wouldn't be counted,
or somehow "wasted". After all, Debbie Riddle
won two elections prior to that as an unopposed candidate
and even then, she failed to reach 50% of eligible voters
in her own district. This is sad considering that it
was in an election year (2004), with an incumbent president
of her own political party, that she barely made the
halfway point, and she was unopposed.
According to Texas Monthly's issue of July 2007, Ms
Riddle was listed as one of the top ten "Worst
Texas Legislators" (I should mentioned that
Riddle crony State Senator Dan Patrick, real name: Dannie
Scott Goeb, also made the list).
Getting back to Ms Riddle. Over the course of three
elections (2002, 2004, 2006), she has only been opposed
once. Now in 2008, after being caught
on film/video for voting for other members of the
Texas House, she is going to get her "bathroom
break" that she so eloquently stated as her reason
for voting more than once in legislative session. Texas
deserves better and the 61.9% of disenfranchised voters
in District 150 should get out to the polls this November
and decisively boot these cheats out of our government
and elect those who are committed to lowering taxes,
limiting government and restoring our freedoms. It is
to these three directives that I am committed.
The Bottom Line:
What we need in the Texas legislature are solutions,
not more Riddles.

Klein,
TX - March 11, 2008
One of the
greatest letdowns in our educational system is that learning
and knowing the rights provided individuals in the Texas
Constitution is not stressed enough, if at all. An informed
constituency is a dangerous constituency, at least to
those in "power". This is why knowing your own
state constitution should be taught as basic curriculum
in Texas education (K-12). Knowledge is power. This power
intimidates those who rule the state and pass laws. No
one can "hoodwink" you if you know what rights
the state Constitution provides. And this is what Austin
Dems/Repubs don't want; an informed citizenry. I want
you to have this knowledge and the power that comes with
it. Please click here to download
a copy of the Texas State Constitution. |

The
Woodlands, TX - October 28, 2007
After debating
whether or not a challenge to the status quo in Austin
would be necessary for the 150th District, Ken Petty heeded
the call and announced today that he would indeed run
for the Texas House.
"Texas
is in grave danger, following the lead of our President
in Washington and that is a division, not between the
Democrats and Republicans but between the haves and have
not's, between those that rule and those who are ruled.
This is not what our government was meant to be. We are
a government of the people, by the people, for the people.
It's time we send that message to Austin with the sure
hope that Washington has ears that can hear. It is time
to say that enough is enough and that there will be no
more!"
"I do
not intend to be a paper candidate. We have some serious
issues that are not being addresses in our legislature
not just here in Texas but mirrored across this country.
It's time to get mad and do something about it. We've
been putting the same party in office. It's now time to
give the other party a chance to bring liberty and freedom
to a populace that only know repression and subjection
to an unjust system," Petty said in a statement posted
on the new web site.
Petty, 47,
serves as the current editorial chairman of the Public
News, a Houston arts and entertainment newspaper
that re-launched in 2007. He is also a skilled webmaster,
marketing and business consultant. He married the former
Mary McIlhenny in 2004, and is the father of three and
step-father of four children.
